Purbeck Plod

The Purbeck Plod is a 25 mile challenge walk, which was introduced in 1965 and ran yearly through to 2002. Our Group re-introduced the walk in 2008 and after many hours spent organising everything from a detailed route description to supplies of food and drink, it took place on Sunday 15th June. 149 walkers and runners started from Swanage Pier on a beautiful summer morning. More than half of the entrants were local but many people made the effort to come from further afield, arriving from many parts of England and Wales. We even had one entrant from France and one from Spain!

The fastest runner arrived at the finish 4 hours and 17 minutes after starting on this beautiful but hilly route. 111 walkers and runners completed the 25 mile route, 28 the 16 mile route and 10 people dropped out at various points along the way.

If you would like a peek at the results you can see them in name order or in time order.

If you took part in the challenge, we would love to hear from you about your experience or how you felt the event was run and we would like to see any photographs you took too.
